Buerger's disease A disease of smokers, usually young men, in which the small neurovascular bundles in the extremities become inflamed and undergo thrombosis. No one has a clue as to the real etiology, beyond the link to cigaret smoking. The typical patient, after losing all his fingers, holds his cigaret between his last two toes. Not a pretty sight. The prognosis is hopeless unless the patient stops smoking.
